The Information We Collect
In the course of doing business, Mystery Customer may collect information about its clients and shoppers or potential clients and shoppers, specifically:
- company names;
- telephone numbers;
- bank account and credit card information;
- demographic information; and
- email addresses;
depending on the nature of the transaction you have with us.
Mystery Customer may use any information that personally identifies you to:
- inform you about products and services;
- inform shoppers about work opportunities;
- improve the products and services we offer;
- pay or charge for services; and
- otherwise better meet the needs and preferences of our clients and shoppers.
In particular, it should be clear why the information is being collected each time you are asked. For example, being asked to supply an address so we can perform a mystery customer visit.
Furthermore, we will not collect from you any sensitive information revealing your race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union memberships or details of health or disability.
Exceptions to this include:
- where you have given express consent to Mystery Customer to do so;
- where this is necessary for the purposes of personal identification of a shopper;
- the use of this information is authorised by law or is considered reasonably necessary to enforce the law; or
- when the information is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim.
When you look at this web site, our Internet service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes – the user’s server address, the user’s top level domain name (for example .com, .com.au, .gov, .au, .uk etc), the date and time of visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and the type of browser used.
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities in order to contact you except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet service provider’s logs.
We will only record your email address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will be added to a mailing list unless you request that this not occur. Above all, we will not use your email address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it, without your consent.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- In order to establish and maintain your relationship as a client or shopper with Mystery Customer, including providing you with newsletters, reports and other relevant information;
- To provide the services that you have requested from Mystery Customer or to answer any enquiry that you may have;

- For direct marketing of products or services or new developments that we think may be relevant to your organisation. However, in these circumstances, we will provide an express opportunity when we contact you to decline receiving from Mystery Customer specified marketing communications via an opt-out mechanism;
- To third parties where they are providing specialist services, which you have requested and Mystery Customer cannot or does not directly provide.
Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties
Mystery Customer may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personally identifiable information to the appropriate governmental authorities. Accordingly, if such a request is received, we will provide this information upon receipt of the appropriate documentation.
Mystery Customer may disclose personal information collected to third parties, for example:
- If we inform you at the time of collection of the information that such a disclosure may take place;
- For purposes related to the purpose for which the information was collected, for example, to complete a transaction on your behalf or provide you with a service that you requested;

Examples of this include:

We will provide them only with such information about you as they need to perform their services, but we will impose strict requirements of security and confidentiality on them in how they handle your personal information. Likewise, Mystery Customer will not permit them to use information about you for any purpose except to perform the services we have asked them to provide.
We may share information about you with other business units across our group of companies so we can provide you with products and services you have requested, and in order that they or Mystery Customer can bring you information about other products and services. We will require these other related companies to agree to strict conditions governing how this information will be used.
